How to Play Guide for One Player Version
Seven and a Half or Sette e mezzo (Italian) [also Siete y Media, Sete e Meio] is a card game that
is played with a 40-card deck, which is a standard deck with eights, nines, and tens removed.
The value of cards 2 through 7 is their pip value. Court cards, K, Q and J, are each counted as one-half. Aces have a value of 1. Similar to Blackjack or Twenty-One, the object of the game is to get as close to 7 1/2 without exceeding it.
In the Introductory game, shown above, you compete against the 'machine' as dealer.
To play the game follow these steps:
To start click one of the 'Deal' button and you will be dealt your first card and the 'Bet' Buttons are revealed. Click one of these button to make your bet. This is your first and only bet. [Note: in some versions there is and ante, and you make a single bet before the first card is dealt. But, betting on the known first card provides a more exciting game.]
You will be dealt a card and your point score is displayed.
You then decide whether you will 'Stand' or get another card ('Hit').
You can request as many cards as you like before 'Standing'.
If you exceed 7 1/2 you go 'Bust' and the dealer wins irrespective or whether the dealer goes 'Bust'.
Once the 'Stand' button is clicked, it is the Dealer's turn. The dealer does not know the Player's Score.
The dealer can request extra cards until the dealer 'Stands' and the Dealer's progressive Score is displayed.
YOU WIN, and get double your bet, if your score exceeds the Dealer's Score without BUSTING.
The DEALER WINS if their score is equal or greater than yours and you lose your bet.
As a bonus in this version, you get your BET back if your score equals that of the dealer (PUSH!).
Another bonus is 'Double Down'. If this button is clicked, your bet is doubled, you get a 'HIT' card once, and then you immediately 'Stand'.
The outcome of the hand is displayed after the Dealer plays and you are ready to BET and play another hand.
If you run out of money, click the HOME button to play again with another $100.
Note: The cards are shuffled and then draw from the pack. So you can watch cards such as 7's and A's. When less than 10 of the deck of 40 remain the pack is shuffled again. A message shows cards used for each shuffle.
Once you learn to play you can progress to the RING game (Sette e mezzo) for a group of players who share the role of the dealer.
The other option is the POT version where players bet for a part or all of the pot and the dealer has a unique role.
